Q &A with Richard

Which authors or books have influenced you the most?

Peter Fleming (Brother of Ian), 'News from Tartary' is a most remarkable journey - not to be missed if you're into travel in out-of-the-way places.

What do you hope readers will take away from reading What a Way to Go to India?

The great sense of fun and simplicity that was travel in the 1970s.

What are you reading right now?

'Whiteout' by R.S. Burnett - a thriller set in Antarctica, the one continent I've not visited. Marvellous adventure with a twist in the tail.

Why did you decide to write about this adventure so many years later?

Over the years, my friends and acquaintances have badgered me to write about my travels. This is the first step on the ladder - other adventures to follow.

What do you remember most vividly about the trip?

The awful toilets!
